Elena V. Artamonova

MD, PhD, DSc, head of the Department of Chemotherapy. Dr. Artamonova is a leading specialist organizing pharmacotherapy of cancer at N.N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology, Ministry of Health of Russia. She actively participates in research conferences, symposiums, and congresses in Russia and abroad. Since 1998, she has been participating in international clinical trials evaluating the efficacy of anticancer drugs in patients with solid tumors (including tumors of the breast, lung, kidney, colon, head and neck, uterus, cervix, etc.).

Education

1986: graduated from I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical Institute (faculty of General Medicine).

1986–1988: clinical residency in the Department of Oncology, I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical Institute.

1988–1991: postgraduate education (PhD student) in clinical oncology, I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy.

1992: defended her thesis (candidate of medical sciences) entitled “Immunological microheterogeneity breast cancer”.

2004: defended her thesis (doctor of medical sciences) entitled “Role of tumor cell immunophenotyping in the diagnosis and prognosis of breast cancer”.

1997–2008: research fellow, then senior research fellow in the Department of New Anticancer Drugs, Research Institute of Clinical Oncology, N.N. Blokhin Russian Cancer Research Center.

2008 – present: head of the Department of Chemotherapy, N.N. Trapeznikov Research Institute of Clinical Oncology, N.N. Blokhin National Medical Research Center of Oncology.

 

Publications

Dr. Artamonova has coauthored more than 200 publications (including monographs) in Russian and foreign journals.

 

Membership in professional associations

Dr. Artamonova is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), Russian Society for Colorectal Cancer (RSCC), Russian Association of Oncological Mammology (RAOM), Society of Oncologists for Tumors of the Reproductive System (SOTRS), and expert council of the Cancer Foundation. She is also a member of the board and expert groups of the Russian Society of Clinical Oncology (RUSSCO) for the development of practical guidelines on pharmacotherapy of malignant tumors.
